Iowa Tornado

June 8th, 2008 · 6 Comments

Today, Al and I have captured a tornado in Iowa. A day full of action and excitement. We watched the entire thunderstorm life cycle on many storms as they tracked across Iowa. Storm structure was amazing and some of the cloud formations were jaw dropping.

Tornado Photos in the Tornado Project gallery. Also check out this awesome time lapse of ‘Whales Mouth’ - Press the play button to start video.

You caught the tornado west of carpenter yesterday? I saw that - I live in Carpenter and run the website for our town. If you have photos and video that you plan to publish on the net, please let me know so I can let people know where to see it.

    Thanks!

Hi Andrew. Yes we captured the tornado which landed south east of Carpenter. Images from storm are in the gallery website. I would appreciate if you could get a better fix on the exact touchdown position as I’m sure you will recognise the buildings in the foreground.

More than happy to email you more images for your website. Video will be up soon. Keep an eye on this site.

    Thanks.

Your photography is superb….It is a great gift to have the seeing eye.
You must come and photograph Ireland it is beautiful.
Sorry to have used so much space asking help to find if my friend is safe….she is the sort of woman who would rescue her animals before herself.
    Thanks again. Roisin Russell.

Thanks for the comments Roisin. I do hope you manage to contact your friend. I will forward your comments and contact details to Andrew Wilder who runs a local website in Carpenter and I’m sure will know of Diane.

I have been to Ireland (East coast) and I would dearly like to visit the west. Indeed it is a beautiful and magical place (just like your Guinness!).
